Redevelopment of Queen Mary’s Hospital – Approved

After lengthy negotiations with the LPA and GLA Tanner & Tilley has secured a viable planning consent for Castleoak to redevelop the former maternity wing at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup.

Addressing Bexley’s Planning Committee John Montgomery explained that the previous planning permission which Tanner & Tilley had obtained for Anchor, the then owners of the site was no longer financially viable and the scheme had had to be redesigned. By an almost unanimous vote the Committee resolved to grant planning permission for a four story building containing 74 Extra Care apartments and a three storey 80 bed Care Home. The only dissenting voice on the Committee was not convinced that the Extra Care apartments fell within Class C2 of the Use Classes Order despite a comprehensive report on the issue prepared by Tanner & Tilley which had been accepted by both the Council and the Mayor of London.
