Tanner & Tilley are delighted with an appeal decision to extend Beech Farm Cottage in Hordle. Before Tanner & Tilley were involved the scheme had been refused twice with New Forest District Council, primarily on grounds of design.

An appeal inspector found however that the design of the scheme that was appealed was in keeping with the area and would not detract from the character of the property. Beech Farm is a two storey house with a series of single storey projections, the property already appears rambling with varying roof pitches and heights of the building.

The Inspector further decided that the scheme appealed would have no harmful effect upon the openness of the Green Belt. Thus, there would be no conflict with PPG2.(Planning Policy Guideline 2).

The householder commented after the decision saying “thanks to the hard work of the team at Tanner & Tilley and our architect we have finally got a decision that makes sense.”
